Why we are building Saihub.info

I am Maury Shenk, an entrepreneur, lawyer and investor who has been involved with AI technology, investments and companies for more than a decade. Recently, I have become involved in multiple efforts related to AI safety, including:

• organizing a series of consultations at St George's House, Windsor Castle on AI risks, including a first one 'AI -- Threats and Opportunities' in October 2023
• serving on the steering committee of the 695th Lord Mayor's Ethical AI Initiative 
• acting as a senior advisor to the team at Post Urban Ventures as they work to launch a project on AI safety.

 

All of this feels like the most interesting thing that I have done in my very interesting career. It involves technology, policy and doing something that society needs,

 

These efforts (and past experience) have produced a lot of useful information on AI safety, and a week ago on a trip to Athens with my wife we conceived the idea of Saihub.info to create a collaborative venue for sharing such information. The idea was also heavily influenced by the discussions at the St George's House consultation mentioned above, where I led a working group on law and regulation that conceived such a website as a key need.

 

The initial version of Saihub.info that you see has been pulled together in the past few days in a burst of excitement for bringing this project to life. We intend to improve this site site steadily and massively, and to build a team to do so. Please get in touch if you would like to join the effort, or just want to discuss.
